Images of three stamps issued by the United Nations Postal Administration (©️UN2024 on the left-most image) and themed "Ageing for All Ages." The images are paintings of smiling older persons in cheerful, bright colours: 1. A woman wearing a conical straw hat, squatting and holding a huge green cabbage; 2. A wheelchair user woman holding a large red heart, with a man (white coat & tie) holding the handle bars of her wheelchair, and a uniformed nurse seated at a desk behind them; 3. A couple in an elegant ballroom dancing pose: the woman is wearing a salwar kameez and the man is wearing a western shirt and long pants

Care-Ageing-Gender

Out of nearly 1,000 (998) social protection measures rolled out across 171 countries or territories between December 2022 and May 2023, only 21% of measures taken can be considered gender-sensitive – with 18% targeting women’s economic security and 3% targeting unpaid care. This represents 207 total gender-sensitive cost-of-living measures spread across 100 countries or territories.

At least 100 countries or territories implemented gender-sensitive measures to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, but stark regional disparities persist

Support for rising unpaid care demands comprised just 3% of gender-sensitive measures

Globally, a mere 27 measures across 18 countries provided support for unpaid care in response to rising living costs.
